I saw Phil dropped the hammer on you… A very “exceptional” situation, I think, I don’t understand how anything you did amounts to a 2 month ban while Robo and Zvex had like a week off for their public rows. I guess we’ll see you in a couple months, then :/

Sorry to hear you got banned. HC just gets suckier and suckier.
Hey…have you rehoused any of the Cool Cat’s with concentric pots?
Is it possible to do a rehouse where one replaces the concentric pot with two separate pots? I have a bunch of duplicate Cool Cats and I figure I can experiment on rehousing some of them without being out a pedal I like if I botch it.

Phil is power crazy over there, and everyone kisses his ass (which is probably not as bald as his head).

Phil O’keefe is a nice guy in an empty suit. I have been a member longer than he has been a mod, and his zero effect as moderator has not come unnoticed. I have asked to be permanently banned. Did you know it is far more difficult asking to be banned than getting randomly banned posting in the spam thread? Needless to say, I am more than content now that I no longer have to deal with all his charade.

bummer dude, was hoping you’d be back soon. You were always a very helpful person and a good addition to HCFX.

any one else having problems removing knobs? lol

SVB,
Would it be possible to get a couple more shots of the inside of the pedal when it’s wired up? I’m a bit lost with what to do with the shielded portion. Also, is there any need for ground, or does the switch create a ground with the enclosure.
Sorry for the dumb questions, I’m an electronics doofus.
Thanks!

echobaseone,
Look at the hookup diagram on page 4 of the pdf i enclosed. There are 2 shielded wires, one at the input and the other the output. The shield is grounded on one end at the board and is left opened at the switch. You can re-use the same wire or your own. Hope that explains it.

Thanks for posting this. Awesome!
I’m planning on tackling this a little differently – with the board vertically so the knobs can be on top of the pedal. Thinking I’ll have to get a new LED…do you know if I would have to stick a resistor in line for the LED to work off of the board?
Thanks!

Thanks so much for your guide, I’m using a very similar technique to rehouse the transparent Overdrive and Drive in one box! However, I’m having problems. Currently when either effect is engaged, the respective LED comes on but all sound disappears. I think I’ve messed up on the shiled wires. Above you say they’re ‘left open at the switch’ – do you mean you don’t solder them anywhere, you just leave them unattached? I’d really appreciate your help, thanks again!

*Sorry, that should obviously read ’shielded’, not ’shiled’!!

OK, never mind, I did as you said – left the shielded wires unconnected – and it works perfectly! Many thanks!

Supervelcroboy,
I have two questions that I’m hoping you can answer…or anyone else. First, how do you remove the black bezel LED holding? Second, what is the wire that connects the top left and right of the 3PDT switch? I’m desperately trying to rehouse my ugly cool cat.
Thanks
